YPD Karenland successfully conducted its 23rd Annual Training and General Meeting from 15–20 December 2025 at Kaw Thoo Mweh Khee, under the guiding theme: “See, Judge, Act.”
The training brought together youth participants from different areas to engage in a series of educational sessions, exposure trips, cultural activities, and leadership development programs. The overall aim was to strengthen participants’ capacity to understand their communities, reflect critically, and take meaningful action for future development.
Day 1 – Arrival and Orientation (15 December 2025)
Participants arrived, joined the opening session, and traveled to Su K’lee, where the training officially began. This initial stage focused on welcoming participants and setting the tone for learning and collaboration.

Day 2 – “See”: Exposure and Understanding (16 December 2025)
Participants were introduced to YPD Karenland’s mission and training plans before being divided into groups. Each group then traveled to nearby villages for an overnight exposure trip.
This “See” phase allowed participants to observe real-life situations related to education, livelihoods, and youth life in different communities.
Benefit: Participants gained first-hand experience, broadened their perspectives, and developed a deeper understanding of community challenges and strengths.

Day 3 – Reflection and Learning (17 December 2025)
Participants returned to Kaw Thoo Mweh Khee and engaged in training focused on education. Each group presented their observations and experiences from the exposure trips.
Benefit: This reflection process strengthened critical thinking, communication skills, and the ability to analyze real-world issues.

Day 4 – Skills, Identity, and Celebration (18 December 2025)
The day began with a marathon activity, followed by training on livelihoods and professional development. Participants were also introduced to organizational work and community structures.
In the evening, participants joined the Karen New Year Eve celebration and concert.
Benefit:
- The marathon promoted teamwork, discipline, and physical well-being
- Livelihood training expanded awareness of career and income opportunities
- Cultural celebration strengthened identity, unity, and pride in Karen traditions

Day 5 – Culture, Leadership, and Community (19 December 2025)
Participants celebrated Karen New Year, took part in traditional games, and joined training sessions focused on the role of the new generation. Group competitions were also organized.
Benefit:
- Cultural activities deepened understanding of heritage and traditions
- Games and competitions encouraged teamwork, leadership, and collaboration
- Youth-focused training inspired participants to see their role in shaping the future

Day 6 – “Judge” and “Act”: Reflection and Future Planning (20 December 2025)
The final day focused on reflection and action. Participants evaluated what they had learned throughout the training (“Judge”) and began planning how to apply their knowledge in their communities (“Act”).
The 23rd Annual General Meeting was also held, where future plans of YPD Karenland were shared. The program concluded with a closing ceremony and a final gathering for participants.
Benefit: Participants developed practical plans, strengthened decision-making skills, and gained motivation to take action for community development.
Through this training, participants:
- Gained a broader understanding of community realities
- Strengthened critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Developed leadership, communication, and teamwork abilities
- Deepened their cultural identity and sense of belonging
- Became more motivated and prepared to contribute to their communities
Activities such as the exposure trips, training sessions, cultural celebrations, and group work all played an important role in shaping a holistic learning experience.
