Emergency Support and Community Resilience for IDPs in Karenland, Burma

urgent call for aid to displaced communities in karenland (1)

Ongoing armed conflict between Karen forces and the Myanmar military has forced thousands of civilians to flee their homes across Karenland. Many are now living in internally displaced persons (IDP) sites under constant threats, including drone surveillance, mortar attacks, and airstrikes.

These conditions have created a serious humanitarian crisis, leaving communities vulnerable and in urgent need of support.

People living in IDP areas are struggling with:

  • Food shortages due to disrupted livelihoods
  • Limited access to healthcare and essential medicines
  • Unsafe and inadequate shelter
  • Interrupted education for children and youth
  • Limited capacity among young people to support their communities

This project aims to:

  • Provide emergency food, medical supplies, and shelter to displaced communities
  • Support access to education through scholarships for IDP students
  • Strengthen youth capacity through training in leadership and community support

Key activities include:

  • Distribution of food packages and essential supplies
  • Mobile medical services and medicine distribution
  • Construction of temporary shelters
  • Scholarship support (school fees and learning materials) for IDP students
  • Youth training programs in leadership, health awareness, and emergency response

Through this project, we expect to see:

  • Improved living conditions for displaced families
  • Better access to healthcare and reduced health risks
  • Continued education for children and young people
  • Empowered youth actively contributing to their communities

The project will directly support:

  • Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Karenland
  • Children and students affected by conflict
  • Youth leaders and community volunteers

This initiative responds to urgent humanitarian needs while also building long-term community resilience. With the support of partners and donors, communities in Karenland will be better equipped not only to survive current challenges but also to rebuild and move forward with strength and hope.
